NSS Policy

For the holistic development of students and to instill a sense of national service among them, the NSS unit is being successfully run at Miri Piri Khalsa College (Bhadaur). The college organizes one-day, two-day, three-day, and seven-day camps every year. All activities of the camp are uploaded on the My Bharat Portal. Under the accomplished leadership of College Principal Malvinder Singh, Assistant Professor Sukhpal Singh and Professor Jaspreet Singh are coordinating the NSS program.


What is NSS?

The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a government-sponsored social service scheme in India, managed by the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, aimed at developing student's personality through community service and promoting social consciousness. 
Here's a more detailed breakdown:


Purpose: The NSS aims to bridge the gap between education and societal needs, encouraging students to actively participate in community development and national service. 


Key Objectives:-

  • Identify community needs and problems.
  • Develop a sense of social and civic responsibility. 
  • Utilize knowledge to find practical solutions to community problems.
  • Promote personality development through community service.


How it works:- NSS volunteers, primarily college and university students, engage in various community service activities and programs.

History:- The scheme was launched in 1969, the centenary year of Mahatma Gandhi, by the Government of India. 

Structure:- At the national level, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports is the nodal authority, with state-level NSS cells and university-level NSS cells overseeing activities.
